Siena Heights University (SHU) is excited to announce the hiring of Susan Shelangoskie, Ph.D., and Jennifer Brooket, CFRE, to leadership roles on the Adrian Campus. Shelangoskie has accepted the position as the University’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, while Brooket has accepted her position as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

Shelangoskie came to Siena Heights in July 2022 as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, following employment as the Chair of the English Department and Director of the Digital and Media Studies program at Lourdes University. In January 2023, Shelangoskie stepped into the Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs position. During her time in the interim role, Shelangoskie has championed engaged learning and support services for students while introducing efficient processes that have lowered costs, earning the trust of her colleagues and working to distinguish SHU’s academic programs. She has already begun her permanent role.
Shelangoskie earned her Ph.D. in British and American Literature from the University of Utah, and her undergraduate degree in English and Mathematics from Cleveland State University.
Of Shelangonskie’s acceptance of the position, Dr. Palmer said, “She is clearly someone who works with the greatest integrity and has earned the trust of faculty and her colleagues.”
Jennifer Brooket, Vice President of Institutional Advancement
In addition to the Vice President of Academic Affairs position, Siena Heights is also bringing aboard new leadership for the Vice President of Institutional Advancement role. Brooket is a two-time Siena Heights graduate, receiving degrees at the baccalaureate and master’s level from SHU. Her bachelor’s degree is in multidisciplinary studies while her master’s is in organizational leadership.
She previously served in Siena Heights’ advancement office as a Coordinator of Donor Relations and then as Director of Development spanning from 2008-2017. Her years at Siena Heights created the baseline for extensive experience in the higher education landscape, as she then went on to work as the Associate Vice President at Jackson College for several years. Brooket is rejoining the SHU community from the University of Toledo, where she occupied the role of Associate Vice President for Advancement. She is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive and has significant experience with major gifts and donor relations.
“Jennifer is a proven leader with a track record of success. She has a deep understanding of the relationships necessary to advance Siena Heights, and I am confident that she will be a valuable asset to our leadership team.” Dr. Palmer remarked.
Brooket began her new role on September 5, 2023.
