The Siena Heights University’s Master of Science in Nursing program recently received a five-year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The accreditation will be through Dec. 31, 2026.

“Siena Heights University continues to invest in high-demand workforce programming to better service the community,” said SHU Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies Dr. Cheri Betz. “The MSN degree and CCNE accreditation are further evidence of this commitment to society.”

The SHU Global MSN program was considered by the CCNE Board using the CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs (2018). At its October 2021 meeting, the Board determined that SHU’s MSN program met all four accreditation standards. The Board additionally determined that there are no compliance concerns with respect to the key elements.

SHU Global has offered a totally online MSN degree since 2020. The MSN Health Systems Leadership program focuses on preparing nurses for leadership positions across the spectrum of health care. It is designed to develop strategic and creative thinkers who employ a wide variety of innovative strategies to improve processes, outcomes, and quality of care through the adoption of leadership roles in a multitude of health care settings.

“Siena’s MSN students will come into this program with the advantage of learning from seasoned online faculty members,” Dr. Betz said. “In fact, our MSN faculty members complete rigorous training prior to teaching any of Siena’s online courses. The dedication to providing a quality online education experience is supported by the continued infrastructure and personnel investments the University has made in this area for nearly 20 years.”

MSN classes are sequenced so that students will take one course online every seven weeks and two courses throughout the semester. Students take only one course at a time, with the 12-course program designed to be completed within two years.

Siena Heights’ Nursing Program is also accredited by the CCNE for both its Pre-license and RN to BSN programs.
