“At Siena Heights, you are not just a number, but you are an individual that is noticed.” – De’Angelo L. Boone ‘07

Siena Heights University proudly awarded alumn De’Angelo Boone with the Sister Ann Joachim Award, a recognition that celebrates alumni who exemplify leadership, resilience, and dedication to community service. Named in honor of Sister Ann Joachim, O.P., a cherished faculty member, this award honors those who confront challenges confidently while upholding the spirit and values of Siena Heights.

De’Angelo Boone embodies these qualities through his profound impact on the community. He has made substantial contributions, including establishing the City of Refuge Food Pantry to combat food insecurity among underserved populations in Adrian. Boone’s support also extends to the Siena Heights University food pantry, where he’s helped ensure students have access to essential resources. Reflecting on his motivation, he says, “The reason I give back in the capacity that I do is because someone gave to me to help me reach where I am.”

Growing up in a marginalized community and a single-parent household, Boone understands firsthand the importance of support and giving back. His extensive roles in the community include serving as Coordinator for Education and Programming at ProMedica in Adrian, Consultant for the Align Center for Workforce Development, Director and Founder of the Meal Assistance Program of Lenawee County, and Pastor and Founder of City of Refuge Ministries International

Looking back on his journey, Boone attributes his success to the foundation Siena Heights provided, sharing, “I believe the Siena Heights mission is really student-driven. It is designed for the success of students, not just academically, but emotionally as well.”

De’Angelo Boone’s journey from Siena Heights student to community leader highlights the transformative power of education, service, and resilience.
