Undergraduate Student Scholarships & Grants

Siena Heights University offers its students opportunities for many types of institutional financial aid to make a Saints education affordable to all. A variety of grants and academic scholarships are available for students who qualify. Qualification for need-based grants and scholarships require the submission of the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).

Siena Heights offers a variety of scholarships and grants. These awards are available to qualifying full-time College of Arts & Sciences (Adrian Campus) students who have been fully accepted to the University.

Another fantastic resource is the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Aid on the Web. This site provides free sources of information and tools to help prepare for and fund higher education.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION DAYS

First-time freshmen who apply, are accepted to Siena Heights University and who have a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA or higher are eligible to compete during SHU’s Academic Scholarship Competition Days.

ARTS SCHOLARSHIP DAYS

High school seniors and transfer students who would like to major in Music, Art or Theater or perform in the choir, band, marching band, orchestra or jazz band can schedule an audition or portfolio review and campus visit during Arts Scholarship Days @ Siena. Scholarships will be awarded to qualifying students. Pre-registration is required. Prospective students must be accepted to Siena Heights University for the 2020-21 academic year before performing an audition.

COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

TRUSTEE SCHOLARSHIPS

  • GPA: 3.5 or higher.
  • Range: Up to full tuition (per academic year unless noted).
  • Criteria: High school seniors demonstrating academic excellence who complete an application for admission and participate in one of the Academic Scholarship Competition Days.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • GPA: 3.5 or higher.
  • Range: $7,000-$16,000.
  • Criteria: High school seniors demonstrating academic excellence who complete an application for admission and participate in one of the Academic Scholarship Competition Days.

DEAN’S SCHOLARSHIPS

  • GPA: 3.5 or higher.
  • Range: $7,000-$16,000.
  • Criteria: High school seniors demonstrating academic excellence who complete an application for admission and participate in one of the Academic Scholarship Competition Days.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

HONOR SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: $4,000-$6,000 (per academic year unless noted).
  • Criteria: High school seniors with a 3.25 GPA or higher.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: International high school seniors or transfer students with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: Up to $10,000.
  • Criteria: Transfer students from a two-year college and members of Phi Theta Kappa (official verification required) as well as a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: Up to $8,000.
  • Criteria: Transfer students from two- or four-year colleges or universities with a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: Awarded by the institution to eligible students.

ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: $1,000-$3,000.
  • Criteria: High school seniors or transfer students are required to audition with SHU Music or Theater faculty (by March 1 for high school seniors) or required to have a portfolio review with SHU Art faculty (by March 1 for high school seniors).

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: High school seniors or transfer students and are determined by the sport’s head coach.

CAMPUS MINISTRY SCHOLARS PROGRAM

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: For high school seniors or transfer students seeking active involvement in the Campus Ministry activities on the Adrian campus. A completed Campus Ministry Scholars Program application must be completed in addition to the application for admission. An interview with the director of Campus Ministry is required.

GRANT PROGRAMS

ATHLETIC GRANTS

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: High school seniors or transfer students and are determined by the sport’s head coach.

LEGACY GRANT

  • Range: $1,000.
  • Criteria: High school seniors or transfer students who are the children, grandchildren or sibling of a current Siena Heights student or Siena Heights alumnus are eligible. It is renewable every year as long as the student is maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

OPPORTUNITY GRANT

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: Students who file the FAFSA will be considered for this non-need based award. This grant is renewable for up to four years provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and submits the FAFSA annually.

SIENA GRANT

  • Range: Varies.
  • Criteria: High school seniors or transfer students who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need.
