Siena Heights is taking a bold step toward the future of healthcare education and community wellness with the creation of the Margaret and Doyle Hartman Center for Health and Wellness. This new center will enhance academic offerings, provide hands-on learning opportunities, and contribute to the well-being of the Adrian community. The building purchase and it’s vast potential is made possible by a generous donation from Margaret and Doyle Hartman of Dallas, Texas.

A Vision for the Future of Healthcare

The 66,000 sq. ft. facility sits on 11 acres and represents a significant expansion of the campus. The center will serve as a hub for healthcare education and community wellness, equipping students with the skills needed for the evolving healthcare landscape.

This initiative aligns with SHU’s commitment to academic excellence and community impact by providing new opportunities in healthcare disciplines while meeting local needs. Additionally, the center will house the world-renowned Gray Institute—a leader in movement science, giving students access to cutting-edge research and training.

A Transformative Investment in Siena Heights and the Adrian Community

“The Margaret and Doyle Hartman Center for Health and Wellness is a win for all of us,” says Dr. Douglas Palmer, President of Siena Heights University. “We are pleased to grow our presence in the Adrian community. We will not only use this center to prep students for jobs but also offer community-based health and wellness programs for the betterment of the community. This is a milestone for Siena that is in full alignment with our mission.”

With this expansion, Siena Heights reaffirms its dedication to its founding values, established by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. The university’s mission—to help individuals become more competent, purposeful, and ethical—guides this new chapter, ensuring that education and service remain at the heart of its growth.
