The Nairobi Chamber Chorus performed for the diamond jubilee celebration of Queen Elizabeth II (above) of England.
Siena Heights University’s International Studies and the Visual and Performing Arts Engagement offices will co-host the national touring Nairobi Chamber Chorus at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 in Rueckert Auditorium.
According to its web site, the Chorus is a voluntary group of young performers who are drawn from universities and institutions around Nairobi and various tribes of Kenya. The Chorus has performed together with world-renowned musical companies, including the Guildhall Orchestra, London Adventist Chorale, Cape Town Opera and UK-based Opera House. The group also recently represented Kenya in at the celebrations to mark the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in London.
The Chorus has a repertoire ranging from arrangements of African folk music to western classical music. Joyce Cameron of Clinton Community Schools helped bring the group to SHU.
There are no advance ticket sales, however a donation of $5 will be collected at the door.
