Current and On-Going Projects

Faculty/Staff Training

I am responsible for training faculty and staff on how to use application software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Expressions Web, and Internet Explorer, as well as training faculty how to create Web enhanced courses using eCollege.

Training Materials and Lessons for Faculty and Staff Training

I am responsible for preparing training materials for faculty and staff.  This includes preparing lessons for each training session, in addition to creating handouts for faculty and staff to use in their offices.  I also do presentations for several classes at Siena Heights University.  This includes writing and presenting the lessons.

Training Web Site

I have created a Training Web site for the Siena community.  This Web site contains materials for working with eCollege, our Course Management System, as well as the Microsoft Office suite of programs.  Eventually, I am hoping to provide training tutorials for eCollege and Microsoft Office Programs using multimedia software, such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Camtasia. There is a link to these pages under the My Siena tab of the Siena Heights University Web site.  The Web address is www.sienaheights.edu/Personal/csstrain.

Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Certification

I completed my Microsoft Office (MOS) Master Certification in Office 2000.  This involves taking tests in Word Expert, Excel Expert, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.  I have completed the Core exams in Excel 2002 and Word 2002 and the Expert exam in Word 2002.  I have also  completed the exam in PowerPoint 2002.

Software for Educators

This course is designed to instruct pre-service teachers on the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum in education.  The main focus of the course is to explain how technology can enhance education, how technology affects the lives of students on a daily basis, and how to incorporate technology into the K-12 classroom to enhance teaching and learning.   The course includes Office 2007 concepts, grading programs, testing programs, along with the use of technology in the classroom.  Starting in the Fall of 2007, the students started using eCollege, Siena's Course Management System.  This program allows instructors to create a Web-based or Web-enhanced course.  Hopefully, this will help the future teachers in this course to learn about Web enhanced courses and how they can assist in the learning process.

Educational Technology and Assistive Technology for Students with Disabilities

This course is designed to help students understand technology that can be used for students with Special Needs.  In the course, we look at different programs that can be used for students in the classroom.  Students are required to read information pertaining to the use of technology in the regular classroom as well as in the Special Education classroom.  The concept of Universal Design is discussed.

PowerPoint 2007

This course is designed to teach students how to create PowerPoint slides to use for their course presentations or for their senior projects.  Lecture and hands-on exercises are included in the course.  This allows students to work at their own pace within the due dates for the course.

Adrian Dominican Sisters

I have worked with the Adrian Dominican Sisters' Technology Department to provide training for the residents and staff of the Dominican Life Center.  This has been an interesting and exciting experience.  Seeing the excitement of the sisters and lay staff when they learn concepts such as sending e-mail and setting up contacts has been very rewarding.  I am looking forward to providing more training for the sisters, as well as the office staff.  The training not only involves working directly with the sisters and staff, but also involves writing the materials for them to use for reference.
