Christine Reising teaches printmaking, Book Arts, and Foundations. Her particular interests lie in the investigation of text and image to convey personal narratives. Her creative work includes site-specific installations and the writing and construction of small handmade books. Her poetry and artwork appears with ten writers from across the country in the literary anthology, Everywhere is Someplace Else, published by Plainview Press.

Her recent work stems from the investigation of non-toxic etching. Two artists’ books are the result of this work. Ezzard the Spider, Formerly Known as Little Miss Muffett integrates saline etched images through digital scanning and printing. A Book of Hours for Radegunde contains text and images that have been printed directly from etched photopolymer plates.

The content of her books explores her enduring interest in various aspects of love and desire: unrequited, platonic, historical, and fairytale.

Teaching Statement
My teaching philosophy is experientially based. Art is a process of discovery and my role in this journey is multifold. I provide students with the fundamentals, the rules of art making. I offer guidance along the way, giving the student permission to take risks, break rules, fail and succeed. I encourage them to look at, write and talk about art. I hope they will always be investigators, continually rediscovering their own answers along the way.
