Siena Heights University announced that the Consumers Energy Foundation has recently funded a $25,000 grant to support renovations to Benincasa Hall, which is being converted into a community meeting and reception facility on the Adrian campus.
“The Consumers Energy Foundation has supported Siena’s mission for more than two decades,” said SHU President Sister Peg Albert, OP, PhD. “Most recently the Consumers Energy Foundation supported initiatives such as our newly completed McLaughlin University Center. We thank the foundation for its continued support of our students, our mission and Siena Heights’ efforts to build community.”
“We are pleased to support this project, which will serve as an important resource for Siena Heights University and the entire Adrian community,” said David Mengebier, president of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “The foundation and Consumers Energy are proud to be part of projects like this that help to build community.”
Benincasa Hall served as the University’s dining hall for nearly 80 years before the new dining service opened in the University Center in August 2013. The hall has been used as a community gathering space, but planned renovations will upgrade the facility to maximize community use for events such as receptions, meetings and banquets. Renovations are expected to take place in 2014.
