The photography program includes a variety of techniques from traditional film-based and non-silver photography to digital photography. Beginning level courses emphasize skills and the exploration of different genres and styles. Upper level courses encourage more experimentation and personal exploration. The emphasis of the program is on digital technology, reflecting the new reality in photography, although darkroom/film-based courses are offered as well. Students supplement their class work with research into historical and contemporary photographers. Slides, videos, individual and group critiques, field trips, museum and gallery visits are provided in addition to lectures and demonstrations.
