Siena Heights is close to the metropolitan areas of Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio yet it offers the safety and security of living and studying in a small and friendly town. It has that United States “hometown” appeal that enables new residents to get to know the community in a short period of time. The town is small enough that essential services are located within walking distance of the University.

In addition to its main campus in Adrian, Michigan Siena Heights operates eight degree completion centers located throughout the State of Michigan that allow students to complete your degree in another location if needed.

Faculty have taught in Italy, Ireland, the Dominican Republic, France, Mexico, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Kuwait, Lebanon, England, Japan, and Columbia.

Siena Heights University’s Board of Trustees represent a broad spectrum of professions that are offered at the University. The Board members are leaders in industry, banking, non-profit organizations, universities, medicine, law, public utilities, psychology, religion, and insurance. Class sizes are Siena Heights at small and personalized attention is the norm
Most classes have no more than 20 students. Some specialty classes no more than 10-12 students. With this personal attention coupled with Siena Heights’s open-door policy, you will get the care and consideration that you need. Siena Heights does not employ Teaching Assistants; all classes are taught by faculty members. Instructors are accessible and are available to meet with students as needed.

The mission of Siena Heights University is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all. A variety of programs at Siena Heights represent the mission-driven programming that is the norm. Through programs such as El Salvador Encounter where participants visit El Salvador and learn about its people, their lives and hopes for the future and Peace Song Event, an interactive in-class dialogue and world music education program, students explore different cultures and traditions.

Siena Heights’ classes are universal in approach and content
Classes such as Cultural Geography, Social Justice in Local-Global Contexts, Intercultural Communication, International Business, Religion and Culture, Comparative Political Systems and Traditional Culture in the Middle East as just some of the interesting cultural course offerings. SHU’s minor in Middle East Studies offers courses that focus on the traditional and modern culture of this developing world region.

Siena Heights University responds to the changing needs of today’s society by adding new programs and courses of study
Siena Heights recently added an environmental science major. Other unique programs include criminal justice, homeland security, religious studies, and Middle Eastern studies.

Siena Heights feels like home
Students, staff and faculty know each other. With a small student population, it is not uncommon for deep bonds and long lasting friendships to be formed among faculty, staff and students.

The Office of International Student Services provides orientation, cultural adjustment, personal and non-academic counseling
This office also organizes programs and activities for international students on and off campus. The International Club encourages intercultural understanding and dialogue through various educational and social activities.
