Siena Heights University has ventured into the mobile communications realm, launching a new Android app for smartphone users.
The app features in-depth information for a variety of audiences, including current and prospective students, alumni, parents and faculty and staff. Human Element Technology Consultants, an Ann Arbor-based company that currently manages and develops the SHU web site, developed the “SHU Mobile” app.
“This was a project that took considerable time and resources to execute,” said SHU Director of Marketing Doug Goodnough. “However, we recognize the growing importance of mobile marketing, and believe this app gives us a solid foundation moving forward in this area.”
The app features categories like campus news, athletic news and events, campus locations and directions using Google Maps and a YouTube feed to view University videos.
“We tried to take the best elements of other higher education apps that are currently out there when designing SHU Mobile,” Goodnough said. “Trying to serve multiple audiences effectively is always a challenge, however, we think the features offered in this app will serve the Siena Heights community well.”
SHU Mobile is free and can be downloaded at the Google Play Store. Or download by clicking here.
Goodnough said work will begin on apps for the iPhone and iPad, which he hopes will be completed later this year. He said he also hopes to provide future features and enhancements to SHU Mobile.
