The Siena Heights University Philosophy and Religious Studies departments will host the Aquinas Forum at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in Rueckert Auditorium. Dr. Kent Van Til, author of “Less Than Two Dollars a Day: A Christian View of World Poverty and the Free Market,” is the featured speaker at this year’s forum.
His presentation is titled, “A Christian and Triangular View of Justice: How Faith Affects the Practice of Justice at Three Important Points.” It will explore how the Christian faith impacts both how justice is conceived and lived. Dr. Van Til is a visiting assistant professor at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, Mich., who has degrees in music, theology and advertising. Known for his work in economic justice, he also served as a missionary teacher in Latin America and has recently written the chapter for Christianity in a forthcoming volume on world religions and poverty.
The SHU Aquinas Forum was established as a means to facilitate discussion of philosophical and theological issues in light of contemporary social concerns. The forum is free and open to the community.
