The Ruth LaFontaine Endowed Scholarship

The Ruth LaFontaine Endowed Scholarship creates opportunities for Siena Heights University students who are going into social work and have financial need. The scholarship was created by Ruth, who is a 1972 graduate of Siena Heights. Shortly after graduation, Ruth entered the Women’s Army Corps to gain both experience and an opportunity to earn her master’s degree. Her time in the Army took her all over the world.  After stops at the Pentagon, Germany and Korea, Ruth retired in 1993 with the rank of major. She then began a second career at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, where she currently serves as Security Director for the hospital.

The Ruth LaFontaine Endowed Scholarship continues to help future Saints realize their dreams while supporting the field of social work.
