Master of Arts in Community Counseling
  • 48 semester hours
  • Usually requires 2-2.5 years to complete program
  • Meets academic requirements for Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC)
  • Graduation Requirements
  • A 600 hour internship in a community setting under the supervision of a credentialed mental health clinician
  • A portfolio based on the program learning outcomes
  • Requirements for Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • 48 semester hour master’s degree in counseling
  • 3000 hours of post master’s degree supervised counseling practice
  • Passing score on the National Counseling Exam (NCE)

    Master of Arts in School Counseling
    Approved by the Michigan Department of Education for grades K-12
  • 2 tracks (NT endorsement and School Counseling License-SCL)
  • 48 semester hours (NT endorsement track for Michigan certified teachers)
  • 57 semester hours (SCL track for non-certified individuals)
  • Usually requires 2-3 years to complete program
  • Graduation Requirements
  • Passing score on school counseling subject exam of the Michigan Test of Teacher Certification (MTTC)
  • A 600 hour internship in a school setting under the supervision of a credentialed school counselor
  • A portfolio based on the program learning outcomes

    Post-Master's School Counseling Licensure (SCL) Program
  • Prerequisite: Master’s degree in community or rehabilitation counseling
  • 15 semester hour program
  • Additional credit hours may be required to fulfill Michigan Revised School Code requirements
  • Completion Requirements
  • Passing score on the school counseling subject exam of the Michigan Test of Teacher Certification (MTTC)
  • A 600 hour internship in a school setting under the supervision of a credentialed school counselor
