Summer Drama/Fine Arts Camp June 23-July 3

Children in grades 1-12 are invited to participate in Siena Heights University's Creative Stages Summer Drama/Fine Arts Camp. This summer's program runs from June 23-July 3, 2014 on the Adrian campus.

Unique to Lenawee County, this program helps enhance your child’s imagination, creativity and personal development. Creative Stages teachers include professional teaching artists as well as Siena Heights University students.

Here are the classes available: 

MORNING COURSE: CHILD DRAMA
Introduction to Creative Theatre

Grades 1-12: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Each summer the Creative Stages Camp offers an adventure. With opportunities to engage in and learn through an array of creative arts experiences (through music, movement, drama and visual arts) every day offers participants a new opportunity for self-discovery and creative expression. Our program is known nationally and supports an educational philosophy designed to stress the “process” of art making, rather than the final product or performance. Emphasis is placed on collaborative creative processes that allow for positive social interactions and personal growth for every participant. Unique to our program is the involvement of university students studying education, music or theatre. These upper level students along with university professors and professional teaching artists work collaboratively to engage campers in educational arts and innovative activities. The camp will culminate with a “Celebration of the Arts” on the final day of the session. This celebration open house gives friends and family members the opportunity to meet instructors, visit and participate with the children.

AFTERNOON COURSE: CENTER STAGE
Acting and Musical Theatre Boot Camp

Grades 7-12: 1-4 p.m.
This acting technique and musical theatre camp offers teens intensive sessions in a conservatory-like setting, working with professional teaching artists. Participants will explore innovative approaches to performance an further develop their personal abilities for the stage. On July 3 students will showcase their work for friends and family and will also have the opportunity to perform at Adrian’s First Friday open mic on July 4 in downtown Adrian. **Participants must come prepared with an age-appropriate musical theatre song with sheet music. If you need help finding material, contact Michael Yuen at myuen@sienaheights.edu.

Cost is $85 per child, $150 for two or $220 for three or more siblings. NOTE: Staying all day? Bring a brown bag lunch (it will be supervised). Also, art can be messy, so participants should dress accordingly.
