The Teacher Education Program at Siena Heights University focuses on education in its broadest vision. Students are encouraged to explore various aspects of the teaching/learning process, in addition to the formal preparation required for classroom teaching.

At Siena Heights University, Teacher Education is neither a major nor a minor. As a result, students select a teachable major and minor for either initial certification or additional endorsement. Siena Heights University has authorization from the Michigan Department of Education to grant certification and/or additional endorsements in a variety of grade levels and content areas, including post-BA initial certification and degrees for Master of Arts and Specialist of Arts.
Certifications
Post-Baccalaureate Intensive Certification Program
This is a Post-Baccalaureate program for college graduates seeking secondary Provisional Teacher Certification. The 10-month program prepares individuals for entry into the teaching profession. The same majors and minors available to students in the Secondary Education program are also available to those in the Post-Baccalaureate Intensive Certification Program.

Child Development
This is a program that prepares child care providers to work in centers, homes and preschool classrooms. Michigan teaching certification endorsement (ZA) is also available through the Child Development Program.
