The Siena Heights women’s cross country team won a share of the Region VIII Cross Country title on Saturday at Upland, Ind. As a team the Saints tied with Spring Arbor University for first place and took home a share of the title. This victory marks the first ever regional title for their 23 year veteran Head Coach Don Kleinow. By winning the meet the Saints entire team automatically advances to the 27th annual NAIA Nationals Nov. 18th in Louisville, Ky.

The Saints were led by 2005 NAIA All-American senior Krishawna Parker. krishawna-parker.jpg

Parker, who placed 5th overall at last year’s national meet, took second place with a time of 18:06. The Saints then saw four freshmen finish behind Parker.  Three of those young runners were able to finish in the top 15 and take home All-Region honors. Rachel Ham ran a great race and finished in 6th place at 18:46. Kailah Gerig followed that in 12th place and Jennifer Belair finished in 14th place.  Kim Cramer closed out the Saints scoring with a 34th place finish of her own.

Men's Cross Country Eighth at Regionals

Robert Deo led the Siena Heights men's cross country team at the Region VIII Meet Saturday. Deo, of Hudson, raced to 3rd place finishing time of 25:11. By placing within the top five, he automatically qualified for the 51st annual NAIA Nationals Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.  The Saints had Mike Glinski finish 25th in 26:16, while Andrew Link was 38th. As a team the Saints finished eighth.
