The Women’s Soccer team closed out their 2009 regular season campaign with a 2-2 tie at Davenport. The Saints shutout streak ended in the 26th minute of play when a ball deflected in their own goal off a SHU defender. The streak is snapped at 1305:47 minutes (a SHU record). Before that goal happened the Saints had a 1-0 lead when Susie Palushaj found the back of the net off of assists from Hannah Ulrich and Noel Luther in the 11th minute. The game went in to half time as a 1-1 tie. Siena Heights fell down 2-1 when Davenport scored in the 71st minute. Siena Heights had chance after chance to tie the game. In fact, the Saints actually scored and had a goal called back, never the less, the road team would not give up and Mackenzy Hickner found the back of the net with 1:44 left in the game.
The Saints end their regular season at 13-2-3 and an undefeated conference mark of 10-0-2. Siena Heights is the #1 seed in the WHAC Tournament which starts November 7th. The Saints have to wait until Tuesday to see who they play, but regardless the game will start at 1 pm. Also, being that this is a national qualifying tournament Siena Heights will be charging admission to the event. Adults are $5 and children are $3. SHU Students and employees will be paid for by the athletic department.
