10/27/2009-Team Michigan wins Blue/Gold World Series in five games

The Blue team takes the hard-fought series with a 6-1 victory over the Gold on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon.

The Gold team came out swinging in the first inning, but could only manage one run.

In the top of the second, the Gold defense fell apart allowing two unearned runners to score giving the Blue a 2-1. That would be all the Blue team needed.

After the first inning, the Gold offense could not catch a break and string a couple of hits together meanwhile the Blue team was playing stellar defense and would not let mistakes lose them the game.

Those two unearned runs were like a dagger into the heart of the Gold team because they acted and played like the game was already over and after the second inning, it was.

The Blue team tacked on a few more runs to seal the victory and the championship.

This was one of the most competitive and evenly matched series in years. In the years leading up to this match up, there had been a cancellation due to snow and two sweeps that ended in three games.

With the fall season complete, the Saints are united once again and head into morning workouts and continuing to prepare for the upcoming season in spring.
