10/17/2009-Siena Heights Barely Falls to Aquinas

anderson aquinas.jpgThe Siena Heights Saints squared off with the Aquinas Saints in Adrian Saturday afternoon.  The game was very physical and emotional.  Both teams fought hard and battled for every ball and square inch of field.  In the end, the Aquinas Saints capitalized on one of the opportunities and Siena Heights did not.  Aquinas won the game 1-0.

SHU almost drew first blood when Joe Deneweth hit the cross bar in the middle of the first half.  With not much happening at either goal the teams played to a scoreless first half.  Aquinas broke the tie in the 61st minute of goal from a corner kick.  The Saints had a couple opportunities after that time.  Joel Parrish almost found the far corner of the net with less than ten minutes, but the shot sailed just wide.

faraj aquinas.jpgSiena Heights ended up outshooting Aquinas 9-8.  This game was really played in the middle of the field as both goalkeepers were each only forced into making one save each.  George Suidan took the loss in the net for Saints.  The game was also very physical as 36 total fouls, 18 for each team, were called.

The Siena Heights Saints will now turn around and play the Indiana Tech Warriors on Wednesday.  That game will be played in Adrian and start at 4pm.
