About the Program
In response to the church's need for lay ministers and future deacons with a solid foundation in Catholic thought and practice, the Diocese of Lansing and Siena Heights University offer academic study in theology.
In cooperation with the Diocesan Ministry Formation Program, Siena Heights offers intellectually challenging, faith enriching courses tailored to the needs of non-traditional and adult students, in an affordable and accessible manner. The Program in Theological Studies certificate consists of 36 credit hours (12 courses). A variety of courses is offered each semester. Classes are offered at several locations around the state, including Lansing, Flint, Ypsilanti and Jackson.
Siena Heights University admits men and women who have the ability and self-motivation to accept the challenge of studying in an atmosphere of individual responsibility and intellectual rigor.
Whether seeking a deeper investigation and understanding of one’s own faith, theological certification for lay ministry, or the background necessary to move toward the permanent diaconate, people are invited to discover these enriching courses. These theology courses can also be used as a major for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theological Studies.
