'Masculinities and Intersections of Place/Class/Race'

Please join the English program for a roundtable discussion titled “Mascunilities and Intersections of Place/Class/Race” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Rueckert Auditorium. This event will explore the ways that various forms of manhood are expressed in literature and popular culture and their relationship to socioeconomic class and race. The presenters will be SHU faculty member Matt Barbee on David Sedaris and Southern Masculinity; Chadwick Roberts (UNC-Wilmington) on American Pickers, class, and authenticity; and Cherod Johnson (University of Pittsburgh) on sexuality, desire, and James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. Moderator will be SHU faculty member Julie Barst. The community is invited to attend.
