Secondary Education
Intended for educators with experience and/or interest in middle- or high-school teaching, this program leads to an M.A. (36 credits) and/or a Secondary-level endorsement (21 credits) in an existing subject-area major (biology, chemistry, history, English, math, or Spanish) that can be added to an existing Michigan teaching certificate with successful completion of the appropriate Michigan Test for Teacher Certification and any directed teaching deemed necessary.
Individuals interested in earning endorsements in subject areas other than those listed here should consult the Michigan Department of Education’s directory of teacher preparation institutions approved to offer particular subject-area endorsements.
Teacher certification is required for admission to this program. Individuals interested in earning initial teacher certification should consult our undergraduate Teacher Education program.
