SUMMARY:
The Dean of the Graduate College is responsible for the quality and vitality of the University’s graduate programs (masters degrees in education, counseling, and leadership offered in Adrian and at two other sites in Michigan as well as online and a specialist degree in educational leadership).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dean will bring flexibility to the development of changing collaborative efforts within the university and an entrepreneurial spirit to the development and growth of graduate programs that serve the needs of our world while rooted in the mission and traditions of Siena Heights University. Work collaboratively with the faculty and program directors to develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term college and program goals (including enrollment goals and recruitment plans), objectives, policies, outcomes, assessment and delivery systems (including online delivery). Oversee the hiring, orientation, evaluation and professional development of graduate faculty. Ensure the college’s compliance with the policies of the University, national/regional accreditation standards, and other requirements, and maintain the Graduate Catalog. Be the public spokesperson for the college and respond to inquiries about its programs. Establish and maintain working relationships with external constituencies served by the Graduate College. Collaborate with the Deans of the College for Professional Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences on changing modes of collaboration and projects that enhance the quality of the University’s academic programs, such as learning outcomes assessment, institutional research, or other potential projects.  Teach in the graduate program in order to keep up to date with the current curriculum, delivery systems, and graduate student needs and expectations. Be available to assist in recruiting and advising of graduate students including those in our significant international student population in a variety of programs/concentrations. Lead the Graduate Council and serve on the university-level Executive Committee of Administration. Develop and monitor the college’s budget. Prepare annual reports.

REQUIREMENTS:
Hold an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree.  Have a track record of excellence in teaching and administration in higher education. Demonstrate leadership in developing online and other delivery formats to meet student needs. Display outstanding communication, organizational and leadership skills. Bring an entrepreneurial spirit to the development and growth of high quality academic programs.
