Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of Education Program

SUMMARY:
The Director of the Education Program will provide administrative, teaching, and advising leadership to the undergraduate and graduate teacher education and educational leadership programs.  The Director will be responsible for promoting the philosophy of the Education Program which focuses on teaching as both an art and a science.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for a teaching load of up to 9 credit hours per year of coursework toward teacher/administrator certification, endorsements, or continuing education. Work collaboratively with the faculty and program chairs to develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term college and program goals, objectives, policies, outcomes, assessment, and delivery systems. Ensure the Education Program’s compliance with the policies of the University, state, national, and regional accreditation standards, including collection and analysis of data, preparation of reports, attendance at state and other organizational meetings, and so on. Provide for appropriate student services, such as academic advising, certification renewal, and so on. Supervise Educational Leadership M.A. and Educational Specialist of Arts Programs. Oversee the hiring, orientation, evaluation, and professional development of the Education Program faculty (full-time and adjunct). Develop and monitor the Education Program’s overall budget. Oversee Education Program admissions, course scheduling, staffing, recruitment, and advising. Work with the University administration and faculty to develop and refine an organizational structure that serves the Education Program and the University. Serve as liaison with PreK-12 schools and intermediate school districts in Lenawee County and surrounding areas, and maintain effective public relations and marketing while representing the Education Program in the community. Other duties within the scope of program’s responsibilities as defined by the University.

REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate in Education required.  Ideal candidate will have experience as a teacher and/or administrator at the PreK-12 grade level. Knowledge of certification requirements. Experience in higher education preferred. Outstanding communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
